Day 3, Saturday, 15 November 2025 – ECOTOUR: PLUNYON TREKKING<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00a0As part of the 13th LSC in collaboration with the 6th ASLE-ASEAN Ecocritical Conference, the organizing committee is planning to offer an ecocultural tour for onsite participants<\/strong><\/span>. This optional program is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025<\/span>,<\/strong> and participants may choose whether or not to join. Those interested in joining the tour will be required to register separately.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The ecotour combines natural beauty, ecological education, and the fresh atmosphere of the foothills of Mount Merapi. Plunyon area and the Kali Kuning river have been known as destinations for nature lovers. The places offer iconic photo spots in Yogyakarta with Mount Merapi as the photo background. The trekking route in this area combines cool forests, sweeping green hills, and refreshing river paths.<\/span><\/h3>

The ecotour includes the biodiversity education content. The trekking guides will introduce various flora and fauna native to Merapi. The guides will explain the ecological roles of the flora and fauna in maintaining the ecosystem balance. The participants will learn the vegetation that prevents erosion, insect pollinators, and the flowing river sustaining wildlife. The tour will start at 7:00 in the morning from the Plunyon area. Participants will be invited to follow a 2\u20133 km route that typically takes 3\u20134 hours. The route includes hill passes and river flows, with several rest stops. The tour finishes at around 11:00 a.m., followed by lunch in a restaurant near the ecotour site.<\/span><\/p>

The tourism trend in Plunyon has been steadily developing in recent years. The destination is often crowded with domestic tourists seeking short, healthy, and experiential nature activities. Post-pandemic, the trend for nature-based travel has grown stronger, making Plunyon a popular choice for weekenders and educational groups. This conservation-focused morning trek offers a form of responsible tourism and an opportunity to get closer to Merapi’s natural surroundings.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
